Basic Installation Instructions

NOTE: Aluminum trims are easy to cut to appropriate length. Please use appropriate eye protection when cutting any materials. Trims may be used as part of a floating floor system and affixed with either adhesive or fasteners. If installing trim in fixed position over concrete sub-floor, it is recommended to install with wood anchors or pegs.

Prepare

1. GATHER all tools required for installation.
2. MAKE SURE the area you are installing trim on is level and free of debris and dirt.

3. ENSURE the trims will fit the flooring edge before making cuts. Trims are designed to tap down to slightly lower heights using a rubber mallet. Use only enough force to gently tap down edge for snug fit.

Measure

4a.  Cut the trim to length and remove any burs or sharp edges with a metal file. Be careful not to gouge or scratch face of trim.

Installation

5a.  SCREW Installation. Place the trim in the desired position and mark the edges of profile on substrate as well as screw location. Use the recessed channel as guide for drilling holes for screws. Drill pilot holes at the marked locations. Trims are designed with a recessed channel to guide your placement of screws. Use #4 flat head screw with a minimum length of 3/4”. Install the screw head as flush with the anchor leg as possible. If installing on concrete substrates, the use of anchors is recommended. Install wood or plastic anchors per manufacturer’s instructions into subfloor where fasteners or screws will be used to secure trim.

4b.  Use a miter saw, chop saw, rotary tool or hack saw to cut trim to desired length.

5b.  ADHESIVE: Choose a heavy duty construction adhesive or urethane based construction adhesive following manufacturer’s recommended instructions. Place the trim in the desired position and mark the edges of the profile on substrate. Apply a thin layer of adhesive to the back side of the trim and apply an equal amount on the substrate. Press the anchoring leg onto the substrate and align to the correct position. Immediately remove any excess adhesive from the face of the profile.
