Lokworx 4252 Multi-Use
DESCRIPTION:
LokWorx 4252 is an installer-friendly, premium high-strength Pressure Sensitive Adhesive (PSA). It may be used on all grades of concrete, on, above, or below grade in the absence of excess moisture, as well as on suspended approved wood floors for installation of LVP/LVT and carpet tile.
APPROVED SUBSTRATES:
- For interior use only.
- Wood Association approved wood underlayment and subflooring. See Resilient/Carpet Wood Substrate Information.
- Gypsum and lightweight concrete should be primed with a primer such as Shaw 9050
- Sound and properly prepared concrete (on, above or below grade), metal, wood fiberglass and terrazzo.
- Existing resilient products should be over 1 year old, secure and fully adhered with a full spread of adhesive. Remove all waxes and polishes from the existing floor before installation.
Read and follow the product specific installation guidelines for layout, design and any special instructions for installation.
SUBSTRATE PREPARATION / testing:
- RH - 99% (ASTM F-2170), provided the site is absent of hydrostatic pressure.
- pH 5-12 (ASTM F-710)
- For above / on-grade / below grade installations, RH and pH testing are required.
For older slabs or slabs with a prior history of moisture related issues, Shaw Technical Support recommends moisture mitigation in the form of a 2-part epoxy system, such as MoistureTEK. For newer slabs with an intact moisture retarder, initial moisture levels should recede over time.
- Substrate must be structurally sound, clean, level and dry. Free of dust, dirt, oil, grease, paint, curing agents, concrete sealers, adhesives, loosely bonded toppings, loose particles and any other substance or condition that may prevent or reduce adhesion.
-
NOTE: On-ground slab is built on a vapor retarder, which remains effective and intact, in conformance with ASTM E1745.
-
Concrete must be a minimum of 45 days old.
-
Fill depressions or cracks with a cementitious patching / leveling compound that meet or exceed Shaw Industries maximum moisture level and pH requirements. Use of gypsum-based patching and/or leveling compounds which contain Portland or high alumina cement and meet or exceed the compressive strength of 3,000 psi are acceptable.
-
For cracks and saw cuts deeper than 1”, Shaw QuickFil is recommended.
-
Installation site must be acclimated with HVAC in operation, or the temperature must be controlled between 65-95° F (18- 35°C) and the ambient relative humidity controlled between 30-65% before, during and permanently after the installation.
-
Do not use over substrates containing asbestos, active cutback adhesive and chemically abated substrates.
