QP102 quick patch

DESCRIPTION

Totalworx QP102 is a rapid-drying, fine repair mortar designed to smooth and fill imperfections on interior surfaces prior to the installation of floor coverings. This polymer-modified blend of Portland cement and select hydraulic cements mixes easily with water and can be applied to a variety of substrates. It is compatible with all types of floor coverings and adhesives, making it a versatile choice for surface preparation.

APPROVED SUBSTRATES

  • Interior use only for residential and commercial applications

  • Produces flat, smooth surfaces for installing textile, resilient, ceramic, and engineered wood floor coverings

  • Suitable over:

  • Structurally sound concrete

  • APA Exposure Type 1 plywood, OSB, or equivalent subfloors

  • Well-bonded hard surface flooring (e.g., terrazzo, ceramic tile, stone, epoxy coatings)

  • Well-bonded, non-water-soluble adhesive residues (including cutback adhesive)

  • Existing gypsum and Portland-based leveling compound

  • For use over radiant heat systems

  • Use as an embossing filler over residential sheet vinyl

  • Do not apply this product chemically abated adhesive surfaces.

SUBSTRATE TESTING

  • Refer to substrate moisture limits per flooring installation requirements.

  • Moisture testing per ASTM F-2170 In-situ Relative Humidity: Testing must be performed per latest revision. Three tests must be conducted for the first 1000 SF and one additional test per 1000 SF.

  • Moisture Testing per ASTM F-2170 In-situ Relative Humidity: 95%RH

  • Vapor retarder compliant with ASTM E1745 is in place and absent of hydrostatic pressure.

  • If RH exceeds acceptable levels, apply a moisture control system like PrepWorx MCS310 or PrepWorx VBS311

  • If RH exceeds 95%, apply a moisture control system such as PrepWorx MCS310 or PrepWorx VBS311. Always follow floor coving

SUBSTRATE PREPARATION

  • Substrates must be structurally sound, clean, and surface dry.

  • Substrate must be free of dust, dirt, oil, grease, paint, curing agents, concrete sealers, loosely bonded toppings, loose particles and any other substance or condition that may prevent or reduce adhesion.

  • Any weakly bonded or soft surface material, such as loose patching compounds, leveling compounds, floor coverings, or coatings, must be removed.

  • Do not use sweeping compounds.

Concrete Substrate:

  • Concrete and cementitious substrates must be fully cured and free of hydrostatic pressure and topical moisture.

  • Clean surfaces using mechanical methods and avoid using acid etching or sanding, which will not provide adequate bonding preparation.

  • For dormant cracks wider than 1/32” (0.8 mm), PrepWorx CJR400 may be used to repair.

  • It is recommended to fill dormant cracks and saw cuts deeper that 1”, using PrepWorx MRR111

  • Ensure all moving joints, including expansion and isolation joints, as well as moving cracks, are properly addressed and accounted for throughout the entire flooring system, including the finish layer. No flooring material should be installed over these areas.

  • If no moisture control system is needed, prime the clean surface with PrepWorx VBC301

Wood Substrate:

  • Wood substrates must provide a rigid base and be securely fastened without excessive vertical movement. The surface of the wood must be clean and free of oils, grease, wax, dirt, varnish, shellac, and any contaminates that would impair adhesion. If necessary, sand down to bare wood. Do not apply totalworx products directly to fire-retardant or pressure-treated wood surfaces.

WARNING: DO NOT SAND, DRY SWEEP, DRY SCRAPE, DRILL, SAW, BEAD BLAST OR MECHANICALLY CHIP OR PULVERISE EXISTING RESILIENT FLOORING, BACKING, LINING FELT, ASPHALTIC “CUTBACK” ADHESIVES OR OTHER ADHESIVES.  These products may contain either asbestos fibers and/or crystalline silica.  Avoid creating dust. Inhalation of such dust is a cancer and respiratory tract hazard. Smoking by individuals exposed to asbestos fibers greatly increases the risk of serious bodily harm. Unless positively certain that the product is a non‐ asbestos‐containing material, you must presume it contains asbestos. Regulations may require that the material be tested to determine asbestos content and may govern the removal and disposal of material.  See current edition of the Resilient Floor Covering Institute (RFCI) publication Recommended Work Practices for Removal of Resilient Floor Coverings for detailed information and instructions on removing all resilient covering structures.  For current information go to www.rfci.com.

APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS AND COVERAGE RATES

Read and follow the product specific installation guidelines for layout, design and any special instructions for installation.

Application

  • Optimum product application conditions are 60–77 °F (16–25 °C) and relative humidity between 40-60 %.

  • To mix a full 10 lb bag – Pour 2.2–2.5 quarts (2.1–2.4 liters) cold, clean water into a clean container. Do not add more water than recommended.

  • Pour in QP102 and mix product vigorously for approx. one minute at average drill speed of 300-450 rpm.

  • To mix part measures – ratio is two parts powder to one part water. Use a margin trowel to hand stir the mixture to a lump-free paste consistency. Observe working time (15-20 min).

  • Apply compound to substrate using a smoothing trowel.

  • Product has a depth limit of 1" (25 mm).
  • Dry for foot traffic after approx. 10-60 min.

  • Ready for install of common floor coverings after approx. 15-120 min.

  • Reseal opened packaging tightly and use the contents as soon as possible.

  • High temperatures and low humidity will speed up setting, drying, and readiness for covering. Conversely, low temperatures, high humidity, and greater application depths will slow drying. During summer, store in a cool place and use cold water.

  • Do not apply to wet surfaces. Ensure the surface temperature is at least 5°F (3°C) above the dew point and rising during application.

  • 50°F (10°C) at floor level

  • To extend working time, stir occasionally and gently. Do not add extra water to retemper.

  • Protect freshly applied material from drafts, direct sunlight, and heat sources.

  • Allow 12 hours dry time for use with high-performance, two-component epoxy, and wood flooring adhesives.

  • Do not use for an entire area (skimcoat) application below glue down wood flooring.

Coverage Rates

  • Coverage rates are approximate values. Actual coverage may vary according to substrate conditions and thickness of the application.

  • Application Depth Approximate Coverage:

  • 100 – 350 sq ft as a skim coat (10 lb)* 9.29 – 32 m² as a skim coat (10 lb)*

  • Up to 30 sq ft per bag at 1/8" thickness (10 lb)* Up to 2.78 m² per bag at 3 mm thickness (10 lb)*
