HFL200 High Flow Leveling

DESCRIPTION 

PrepWorx HFL200 cementitious self-leveling compound for use up to 2" depth application. Excellent flow and working time properties produce level, flat surfaces with good absorbency for most floor coverings and adhesives. 

APPROVED SUBSTRATES

  • Interior use only for residential and commercial applications 

  • Produces flat, smooth surfaces for installing textile, resilient, ceramic, and engineered wood floor coverings 

  • Suitable over

  • Structurally sound concrete 

  • APA Exposure Type 1 plywood, OSB, or equivalent subfloors 

  • Well-bonded hard surface flooring (e.g., terrazzo, ceramic tile, stone, epoxy coatings) 

  • Well-bonded non-water-soluble adhesive residues (including cutback adhesive) 

  • Existing gypsum and Portland-based leveling compound 

  • For use over radiant heat systems 

  • Do not use over chemically abated substrates. 

                           

                 

SUBSTRATE TESTING 

  • Refer to substrate moisture limits per flooring installation requirements. 

  • Moisture testing per ASTM F-2170 In-situ Relative Humidity: Testing must be performed per latest revision. Three tests must be conducted for the first 1000 SF and one additional test per 1000 SF. 

  • Moisture Testing per ASTM F-2170 In-situ Relative Humidity: 85%RH  

  • Vapor retarder compliant with ASTM E1745 is in place and absent of hydrostatic pressure.  

  • If RH exceeds acceptable levels, apply a moisture control system like PrepWorx MCS310 or PrepWorx VBS311

SUBSTRATE PREPARATION 

  • Substrates must be structurally sound, clean, and surface dry. 

  • Substrate must be free of dust, dirt, oil, grease, paint, curing agents, concrete sealers, loosely bonded toppings, loose particles and any other substance or condition that may prevent or reduce adhesion. 

  • Any weakly bonded or soft surface material, such as loose patching compounds, leveling compounds, floor coverings, or coatings, must be removed. 

  • Do not use sweeping compounds. 

Concrete Substrate: 

  • Concrete and cementitious substrates must be fully cured and free of hydrostatic pressure and topical moisture.  

  • Clean surfaces using mechanical methods and avoid using acid etching or sanding, which will not provide adequate bonding preparation.   

  • Ensure all expansion, isolation joints, and moving cracks are properly treated 

  • For dormant cracks wider than 1/32” (0.8 mm), PrepWorx CJR400 may be used to repair. 

  • It is recommended to fill dormant cracks and saw cuts deeper that 1”, using PrepWorx MRR111

  • Ensure all moving joints, including expansion and isolation joints, as well as moving cracks, are properly addressed and accounted for throughout the entire flooring system, including the finish layer. No flooring material should be installed over these areas. 

  • If no moisture control system is needed, prime the clean surface with PrepWorx VBC301

Wood Substrate: 

  • Wood substrates must provide a rigid base and be securely fastened without excessive vertical movement. The surface of the wood must be clean and free of oils, grease, wax, dirt, varnish, shellac, and any contaminates that would impair adhesion. If necessary, sand down to bare wood. Do not apply totalworx products directly to fire-retardant or pressure-treated wood surfaces. 

WARNING:  DO NOT SAND, DRY SWEEP, DRY SCRAPE, DRILL, SAW, BEAD BLAST OR MECHANICALLY CHIP OR PULVERISE EXISTING RESILIENT FLOORING, BACKING, LINING FELT, ASPHALTIC “CUTBACK” ADHESIVES OR OTHER ADHESIVES. These products may contain either asbestos fibers and/or crystalline silica.  Avoid creating dust. Inhalation of such dust is a cancer and respiratory tract hazard. Smoking by individuals exposed to asbestos fibers greatly increases the risk of serious bodily harm. Unless positively certain that the product is a non‐ asbestos‐containing material, you must presume it contains asbestos. APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS AND COVERAGE RATES 

Read and follow the product specific installation guidelines for layout, design and any special instructions for installation. 

PrepWorx HFL200 requires the floor surface to be primed with PrepWorx VBC301 primer before application. 

Mixing 

  • Optimum product application conditions are 60–77 °F (16–25 °C) and relative humidity between 40-60 %. 

  • Pour 4-4.5 quarts (3.75- 4.25 liters) of cold, clean water per 50 lb. bag into a clean container. 

  • Slowly pour in the powder and mix vigorously for 1 minute per bag until blended to a viscous, lump free consistency. Use a heavy-duty drill with a Oval mixing paddle (minimum 650 rpm). 

  • Do not overwater the mixture, as additional water weakens the material. 

Application 

  • Pour the mix onto the primed substrate. Working time is approx. 20-30 minutes. 

  • Coverage rate at 1/4" (6 mm) depth is approx. 24 sq. ft. per 50 lb. bag feaured in coverage.

  • Distribute product evenly with a suitable gauging tool and smooth or spike roll the wet finish promptly. 

  • Product is dry to accept foot traffic after 3–4 hours. 

  • Ready for installation of common floor coverings after approx. 24-36 hours. Depth of application, ambient conditions, and surface porosity will affect dry time. 

Curing 

  • Drying times may vary based on environmental conditions and the thickness of the application. 

  • Foot traffic can begin 3-4 hours after installation. 

  • For ceramic, porcelain, or quarry tiles, allow up to 6 hours for curing. 

  • Most floor coverings can be installed after 24 hours, depending on thickness and substrate. For applications greater than 3/8” (9 mm), conduct a mat test (ASTM D4263) before installing floor coverings.

  • Always refer to floor covering guidelines for installation over cement-based patch products. 

  • Ensure proper ventilation for sufficient curing. Do not apply fans or other forced air to surface. 

Coverage Rates 

  • Coverage rates are approximate values. Actual coverages may vary according to substrate conditions and thickness of the application. 

  • Application Depth Approximate Coverage per 50 lb bag 1/4" (6 mm) 24 sq ft (2.23 m2 at 6 mm per 22.7 kg bag) *At 70 °F (21 °C) and 50 % relative humidity. Surface profile and porosity, application depth, temperature, and humidity will affect dry time and coverage.
