UnGLU'D

UNIVERSAL ADHESIVE & MASTIC REMOVER

DESCRIPTION

PrepWorx UnGlu’d is an advanced, patent-pending chemical de-bonding technology effective in the removal of pressure-sensitive adhesives (PSAs) and other flooring mastics, glues, and adhesives (both water-based and non-water-based). PrepWorx UnGlu’d is non-toxic and fully biodegradable. This fast-acting formula eliminates the need for time-consuming mechanical or abrasive removal, as well as the use of toxic chemicals. Unlike solvent-based adhesive removers, UnGlu'd is a topical (non-penetrating) solution that allows easy residue removal from subfloors.

APPROVED SUBSTRATES

  • Concrete / Cement-based materials (unpainted)

SUBSTRATE TESTING

  • N/A

SUBSTRATE PREPARATION

  • All finished flooring must be completely removed so that target PSA/mastic/glue is totally exposed.
  • There should be no pooled water or other liquid on the surface prior to application of PrepWorx UnGlu’d.
  • Remove other loose foreign materials prior to application.
  • Before applying, protect all areas that won’t be treated. Unglu'd will remove paint, coatings, and other finishes it comes in contact with.

APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS AND SPREAD RATES

Read and follow the product specific guidelines for any special application instructions.

MIXING & APPLICATION DWELL TIME
  • Open pail and mix with drill and paddle mixer for a minimum of 2-3 minutes, integrating any solids that may have settled to the bottom or sides of the pail; continue until homogeneously mixed. DO NOT UNDER MIX. DO NOT DILUTE
  • Once mixed properly, apply to the target area using a nap-roller, brush, or other spreading technique (if using a squeegee back-roll with a medium nap roller). The goal is to apply a heavy and uniform coat of PrepWorx UnGlu’d to completely encapsulate the surface of the target floor. Apply at a rate of 100 sf/gallon (full mixed kit includes 4 gallons) depending on the roughness of the surface. Once UnGlu’d is applied, protect target area from interference from equipment traffic, walk-on traffic, rain, etc. Any unused mixed UnGlu’d can be re-sealed for future use but must be stored with lid completely sealed. If you walk away from the application for more than 1 hour, remix the material for 1 minute before reapplying.

DWELL TIME

  • Once properly applied to the target floor area, allow PrepWorx UnGlu’d to dwell on the surface for a minimum of 2 hours, and up to 12 hours. PrepWorx UnGlu’d will still be “wet” after 2 hours; however, with longer dwell times (such as overnight) PrepWorx UnGlu’d will dry out and may alter how the underlying PSA or mastic scrapes off the substrate. Dwell time will increase in colder temperatures (ambient and substrate) and may vary based on type of material being removed. Always perform a test patch to determine adequate dwell time. DO NOT agitate or interfere with the surface once the product has been applied. Ok to test the area after 2 hours to see if dwell time is sufficient for easy removal, allow to dwell longer if adhesive does not easily scrape from surface.

REMOVAL

  • After sufficient dwell time, and with confirmation from the test patch, use a sharp, long-handled razor floor scraper to remove the target adhesive. If dwell time was sufficient, adhesives should be easy to scrape off and remove. Ensuring the scraper gets “under” the base PSA/glue/mastic when beginning to scrape will allow for easier removal, as the materials should “peel” off the underlying substrate. PrepWorx UnGlu’d is specially formulated to work effectively in as little as 2 hours on newer adhesive residue. When removing within this dwell time, the product will still be “wet.” Wet scraping will result in wet waste and is ideal for short project time frames. When UnGlu’d is used on concrete and cementitious substrates and a coating/epoxy, paint, or new floor is to be installed, the surface residue must be cleaned. Residue can be easily removed with water and a black pad floor scrubber. Vacuum dirty water and allow to dry while checking for any remaining residue.  UnGlu'd is topical (non-penetrating) and any remaining residue will leave an obvious "slick" texture to the concrete surface.  Proper removal of this residue will be apparent when the concrete feels clean and dry. If concrete floor requires a CSP profile, use Surface Prep EXT to provide a profile and porosity. Always refer to coating manufacturer’s recommendation for surface preparation. Please refer to the Surface Prep EXT Technical Data Sheet for further instruction on use.

DISPOSAL

  • Reference UnGlu’d SDS for specific requirements. Collect all solid waste (both wet and dry) and dispose of according to local waste regulations. Disposal should be consistent with traditional adhesive removal by grinding/scraping residue. When removing asbestos-containing materials, always comply with local regulations and use extra caution in removal and disposal. PrepWorx UnGlu’d is non-toxic and fully biodegradable, but always use standard chemical handling safety and precautions.

CLEAN UP

  • Tools and surfaces can be cleaned with water. Dispose of excess material in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations.

STORAGE

  • PrepWorx UnGlu’d must be stored in tightly sealed containers, between temperatures 50-80°F. Do not allow to freeze
